Always calm and reflective, our evening worship offers something for everyone, from the traditional to the contemporary, and takes alternately at Flamstead or Markyate. Please do feel welcome to come along.

Evening Services can be found in the calendar below, but our pattern is generally as follows:

First Sunday of the Month - Evensong - Flamstead

Second Sunday of the Month - Choral Evensong - Markyate

Third Sunday of the Month - Taize - Alternating between Flamstead and Markyate

There is no evening service on the fourth and fifth Sundays of the month. In addition to our daily offering of Morning and Evening Prayer, we also offer Compline.

Evensong is a beautiful and traditional evening service of the Anglican tradition. Prayers, hymns and psalms combine with scripture and a short sermon to invite us to consider the will of God in our lives.  Once a month we enjoy a splendid choral evensong. Check the calendar for updates.  Services last 45 minutes.

Compline was traditionally the last service said at the 'completion' of the day in monastic communities. Here in the benefice we enjoy our compline service by candlelight in the beauty of our church. Services last 20 minutes.

Taize is a reflective service of music and prayers from the Taize community, France. Services are always candlelit and accompanied by singers and musicians. All services are followed by hot chocolate.
